General Framework:

State/Territory Nominated visas:

• Subclass 190 (Permanent) – adds 5 points to your score
• Subclass 491 (Provisional) – adds 15 points, regional requirement

Typical Process:

1. Meet basic skilled migration requirements
2. Have occupation on state’s skilled occupation list
3. Submit Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect
4. Apply for state nomination
5. Receive invitation to apply for visa (if nominated)

Common State Requirements:

• Work experience in nominated occupation
• English proficiency (often higher than minimum)
• Commitment to live/work in that state
• Financial capacity to settle
• Some states require job offers or registration with professional bodies
